Privacy & your data
PlantaX is a plant care journal provided by John Hill. Your plant journal is stored on your device. No account is required, and the original journal features work offline.
Which version do you use?
Version 1.0: The original release does not include advertising or the TopOn advertising SDK. The advertising, tracking-permission, and online ad-availability sections below apply to version 1.0.1, not to version 1.0.
Version 1.0.1: Adds optional rewarded video features and limited interstitial advertising. Advertising requires the privacy permissions described below. This notice does not mean that the update is already available in every region or that advertisements are always available.
Your journal stays on your device
PlantaX stores the plant names, species, selected photos, notes, care schedules, reminder preferences, and care history you enter. It uses this information locally to organize your plants and reminders.
PlantaX does not upload these journal contents to its advertising or ad-availability services. It does not provide an account-based cloud-sync service. Device backups are controlled by your Apple and device settings.
In version 1.0.1, history-theme selections, earned theme access, expiry times, and advertising frequency counters are also stored locally.
Optional advertising in version 1.0.1
PlantaX integrates TopOn for rewarded video and interstitial ads. A voluntary rewarded video can unlock an illustrated history theme for 24 hours. Interstitials may appear at limited transitions after recording care. Advertising is not required to use the original plant journal features.
When advertising is enabled, TopOn and participating advertising partners may process advertising identifiers, IP addresses, device and app information, ad impressions and interactions, and diagnostic or performance information. These support ad delivery, personalization where authorized, measurement, service operation, and fraud prevention. Availability and processing depend on your permissions and the advertising service configuration.
Advertising services may process data in countries other than yours. TopOn explains its handling, retention, sharing, international transfers, and privacy-request channels in its Advertising Services Privacy Policy. This does not authorize PlantaX to share your plant journal with advertisers.
Your advertising and tracking choices
In version 1.0.1, advertising remains off until the required advertising consent and Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission are granted. Tracking permission concerns using data across other companies' apps and websites for advertising purposes. In this version, refusing or restricting tracking permission leaves advertising off.
- Manage or withdraw advertising consent in Settings โ Advertising Privacy in PlantaX.
- Review tracking permission in iOS Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Tracking.
- Keep using the original journal features if you decline advertising or tracking.
Disabling advertising prevents new app-initiated ad loads and presentations. It does not retroactively erase data already received by an advertising provider. An ad already on screen may finish through the provider's normal controls. Earned theme access remains available until its expiry.
Online ad-availability checks
Version 1.0.1 contacts a service at hmaix.com to check whether advertising is enabled for the app. Requests contain the app identifier, version, technical protocol information, and a random request value. They do not contain plant records, photos, notes, or an app-generated persistent user identifier.
The server and hosting infrastructure receive connection information such as IP address and request time when handling these requests. This service controls ad availability; it is not a journal storage or synchronization service.
Photos, reminders, and support
Notification permission is optional and is used for local care reminders. You can change it in PlantaX and iOS Settings. PlantaX uses Apple's system photo picker to select a photo without requesting broad photo-library access.
Opening support or privacy pages uses your browser and network connection. Web hosting services receive normal connection information. If you email us, we receive the email address and information you choose to include to handle your request. PlantaX does not automatically attach your journal.
Deletion and privacy requests
You can edit or delete journal entries, or use Erase All Data in PlantaX Settings to remove the journal data held by the app on your device. Copies in device backups are managed separately through your device and Apple settings. Local deletion does not delete records already held by an advertising provider.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, withdraw consent, or object to or restrict certain uses, including targeted advertising. Contact us with your request. For information held directly by TopOn, its policy also provides privacy-request options. Where applicable, you may contact your local data protection authority.
We will update this notice when PlantaX's data practices change and identify the affected app version.
